Q. What are intramurals?

A: The intramural program offers sports and other activities in which all Lynchburg College staff and students can participate. The students play against each other and sometimes faculty and staff in an organized environment. The intramural program provides equipment and staff officials to oversee all of the sports and activities.

Q: Who is eligible to play?

A: Any student, faculty, or staff member who is currently enrolled or employed at Lynchburg College can participate in intramural programs. Teams can be comprised of friends, roommates, hall/floor mates, fellow club and organization members of recognized student groups, co-workers, etc. -- you get the idea. If you cannot find a team, we can help you. Register as a free agent at our office.

Q: What sports do you offer?*

A: Fall Leagues include flag football, tennis, sand volleyball, soccer, baggo (cornhole), a PlayStation College Football tournament, a three vs. three basketball tournament, a billiards tournament, and the Turkey Bowl, our one-day flag football single elimination tournament. Spring Leaguesinclude dodgeball, volleyball, five-on-five basketball, floor hockey, ultimate, a Texas hold em tournament, our NCAA Bracket Challenge, a golf tournament, and a disc golf tournament.*

* Subject to change.

Q: How do I register?

A: Register as a team or free agent by completing a team registration form and drop off to our office. All participants must bring their ID when they check in to games.

Q: What's in it for me?

A: The main purpose of the intramural program is to create fun options for the student body. By participating in the intramural program students are introduced to an easy way for on-campus involvement. In addition to participation, championship teams receive the intramural championship shirts, and in some cases depending on the sport or activity, there are other prizes.

Q: The intramural program doesn't offer anything I enjoy doing. What should I do?

A. The intramural program is here for the student body and the intramural office strives to create activities that all students will want to participate in. In an effort to discover what types of activities the students want that are not currently offered, we conduct student surveys. All students are welcome to make any suggestions directly to the coordinator. If intramurals don't seem to be able to accomplish the activity you desire, you can always try a club sport .

Q: Anything else?

A: The intramural program carries an inherent risk of injury. Although the intramural program takes as many precautions as possible, accidents do happen and injuries do occur. You should be aware that neither the intramural program nor the Office of Student Activities is responsible for injuries while participating in intramural-sponsored activities.
