Exchange Programs
Students who take part in Lynchburg College international exchange programs enroll in classes at one of the College's sister schools. Upon return, students will earn transfer credits for their coursework provided they receive a letter grade of "C" or better in their classes.
Both institutional and external financial aid are available for programs that take place within the academic year.* Students on these programs pay their tuition directly to Lynchburg College. It is the student's responsibility to cover his/her international airfare and living costs while abroad -- room and board and personal expenses.
*Only external financial aid is applicable for summer programs with our exchange partners.
Students should schedule an appointment with the off-campus studies coordinator to begin the application process.

Fachhochschule Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (FH-V)
Dornbirn, Austria
Students enrolled in LC's School of Business and Economics have the opportunity to spend the fall semester at the College's sister school in Austria while taking in the beautiful Alpine scenery. Coursework conducted in English and taught by a global team of faculty focuses on international business and management. Students take classes with Austrian and international students. The university also offers a German language course to international students. There is a residence hall for international students.
"We have many different professors from different parts of the world teaching our classes, which gives us different world perspectives we wouldn't get otherwise. There are 60 international students here this semester, not including the local Austrian students, and we all work very closely together in groups on a regular basis, and they, too, bring many different perspectives to the table. The International Office Staff at FHV are amazing! They have been wonderful advisors, tour guides, and friends. Their hospitality has been unbelievable; they have sponsored numerous fun and cultural experiences for us." ~ Austin Jones '10 (Management)

Daejeon, South Korea
Hannam University's Center for International Relations (CIR) offers LC students the opportunity to study in South Korea for a full semester. Courses at the University's Linton Global College are taught in English, though students are encouraged to enroll in a Korean language class during their studies at Hannam.
LC students may also spend part of the summer exploring a new culture and way of life by attending Hannam University's Korean Studies Summer Program (KSSP). Students enroll in a three-credit course focusing on Korean language and culture. During the KSSP, students will take part in cultural activities and excursions with their Korean "buddies" -- an excellent way to experience Korean culture and make lifelong friends.
*Students enrolled in the KSSP do not have to pay tuition to LC, but are expected to cover their international airfare and personal expenses while in South Korea.

"I've met students from all over the world. The vast majority of them are open. I didn't know anyone at first, but we all gradually got to know each other. Because of the way classes work over here, we spend a good amount of time working together in groups. And getting to know the locals, seriously, has been great. My favorite pastime by far would be helping out at a local sawmill with my new found friends who work there." ~Tyler Cookson '10 (Business administration) Tyler spent fall semester 2009 taking international business and management courses at LC's sister-school, Fachhochschule Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences in Dornbirn, Austria. Before returning to the U.S., Tyler visited the Austrian capital of Vienna where this photo was taken. |
