Student Development
Multicultural, Access, and Commuter Services
Welcome to Student Life at Lynchburg College! On any given day there is a lot going on at Lynchburg College. Intramurals, community service, comedians and speakers, concerts, volleyball on the Dell, leadership development seminars, the list goes on and on. Literally there is rarely a dull moment. However, the programs and activities, the clubs, the organizations, the theater productions, and games on Shellenberger are created, powered, and lead by you, the student. You make it happen at Lynchburg College and it is our goal to support you in your efforts. This is not a place to sit in the audience and watch the show. We challenge you to be engaged and involved in this community. We need you active in the classroom, on the court, in the labs, on the stage, in the local schools and hospitals, and on the playing field. We work together to reach our goals, face our problems, and solve the issues that confront us whether that is in the classroom or across the ocean in another country. We are a learning environment both inside and outside the classroom.
I have been at Lynchburg College since 1986 and I have dedicated my professional and personal self to this community because of its commitment to students’ success, its desire to go above and beyond, and its tradition of service to the greater community. I hope that you find these same qualities when you become a member of this community. I also hope that you will commit yourself to making Lynchburg College the best it can be. Our goal is to support you in that effort. The best of success to you as you journey though this place called Lynchburg College. I and the Student Development staff stand ready to support and challenge you while you become the person you want to be.
Sincerely,
John G. Eccles
Vice President and Dean for Student Development
