LC Baseball Season Continues With At-Large Bid Into NCAA South Regional

LYNCHBURG, VA – The NCAA selection committee thought enough of the Lynchburg College baseball team’s overall resume to honor them with an at-large (Pool C) bid to the six-team NCAA South Regional Baseball Tournament, which begins Wednesday and runs through Saturday.

The event will be hosted by both the USA South Athletic Conference and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) at American Legion Memorial Post 325 Stadium-Dan Daniel Park in Danville, Virginia. The Hornets are currently 30-11, which ties for the most wins in a season in Lynchburg College history. This will be Lynchburg’s first appearance in postseason play since 1983, and its eighth overall in program history.

No. 4 seed LC will take on the 32-12 No. 3 seeded Piedmont College Lions in the first round at 7 PM on Wednesday evening. The Lions and Hornets have played nine common opponents, including ODAC tournament champion Randolph-Macon College, who was slated as the No. 6 seed.

Salisbury University (38-2) is the top seed in the South Regional, while Johns Hopkins University (34-5) will be the No. 2 seed after being moved south from the Mid-Atlantic Region. Christopher Newport University (28-12) earned the USA South automatic berth and will tackle the field as the No. 5 ranked team.
