Lynchburg Softball Receives Top Seed at NCAA First Round at Methodist
Will Play Emory/LaGrange winner Thursday at 4 p.m.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Lynchburg College softball team found out Monday morning that it will be returning to Fayetteville, NC, and first-round host Methodist University for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Hornets, seeded first in the seven-team, double elimination bracket at MU, earned a bye and will square off with the winner of #4 Emory University and #5 LaGrange College game at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Emory and LaGrange will do battle at 10 a.m. on the Monarch Softball Field, followed at noon with #3 Methodist vs. #6 Ursinus College, and at 2 p.m. by #2 Christopher Newport University and #7 Neumann College (PA). If the Hornets win their first game, they would not be scheduled to compete again until Saturday at 10 a.m., but a loss would knock them into the loser’s bracket and a Friday game at noon. Tickets for each game are $5 for adults and $2 for students, seniors and children under 12.

The games at Methodist are just one of eight sites competing this weekend, with the eight winners advancing to the Division III Championship May 16-20 in Salem, VA at the Moyer Sports Complex.
The Hornets are 36-5 overall and are making their second-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament after back-to-back Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) titles. In 2007, LC won three games at the Methodist regional and was the last team eliminated.
