Establishes a New Single Season Record for Wins with 14

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse team established a new single season record for wins with 14 by cruising to victory over Marymount University 22-2 on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets opened a four-goal lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Kevin Donahue (Ipswich, MA/Tabor Academy) led Lynchburg with three goals while Robert Flintoff (Suffolk, VA/Nansemond-Suffolk) found the back of the net three times and assisted on two others. Dean Evans (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown), Stephen Weis (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers), and Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) each had two goals and one assist while Taylor Stehlgens (New Vernon, NJ/Madison) and Aaron Khouri (Memphis, TN/MUS) scored twice. Johnny Black (Timonium, MD/St. Paul’s) posted a goal and an assist while Norby King (Bryn Mawr, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) and Jeff Schwartz (New City, NY/Tabor Academy) won 15 of 18 face-offs.

Marymount’s two goals came from David Abramson and Danny Carson, and Colin Stuart and Chris Wascak tallied an assist. LC outshot Marymount (6-10) 49-25 and won the groundball battle 51-40. LC also won 17 of 25 faceoffs and converted 15 of 24 clear attempts compared to 18 for 28 for the Saints.

LC will now battle fourth seeded Randolph-Macon College Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament. The winner of that contest moves into the championship game on Saturday or Sunday to be hosted at the highest remaining seed at a time to be determined.
