Hornet Women’s Tennis Upsets Emory and Henry 5-2 at ODACs

          AMHERST, VA – The 10th-seeded Lynchburg College women’s tennis team upset #7 Emory & Henry College Friday morning 5-2 in the first round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. Second-seeded Bridgewater College knocked the Hornets into the loser’s bracket with a 9-0 win.

          Against Emory & Henry, freshman Jessica Moore (Salem, VA/Glenvar) was a double winner, emerging victorious 6-2, 6-3 at #3 singles, and teaming with Rachael Ferrara (Skillman, NJ/Notre Dame) for a win at #2 doubles. Junior Bridney Tune (Gladys, VA/ William Campbell) also won two matches, dropping just one game at #6singles and joining Sascha Barrow (West Point, VA/West Point) for a hard-fought 8-6 win at #3 doubles. Amanda Dennis (Manassas, VA/C D Hylton) was a winner at #5 singles.
