Mason Wooldridge Named to Second-Team All-State Squad

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Sophomore forward Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) was recently named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) second-team all-state squad.

Mason was tabbed first-team all Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) this season – the first player on the first-team since Dennis Brown in 2001 - after leading the Hornets in scoring and rebounding. Mason averaged 19 points and 8.3 rebounds a game this year while shooting 48.2% from the field, 33.8% from three range, and 80.5% from the free throw line. He also finished fourth on the team in assists with 45 and was tied for second on the team with 22 steals. Wooldridge fared well in the ODAC rankings also, finishing second in rebounding, second in defensive rebounds, fourth in points, fourth in free throw percentage, and 10th in offensive rebounds.

Shenandoah’s Jeremiah Lawrence was named the Player of the Year, Ferrum’s Derek Mitchell was tabbed Rookie of the Year, and Washington & Lee’s Adam Hutchinson garnered Coach of the Year.
