Brittany Dahn Takes Home Second-Team All-State Honors

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) released the 2008 All-State Women’s Basketball Teams Wednesday, with Lynchburg forward Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) taking home second-team honors.

Dahn led the Hornets with 16.0 points per game this season, also pulling down a league-high 11.8 rebounds per contest. She was also named to the All-ODAC first team recently, becoming the first Hornet sophomore to be named to the first-team since Kelly Fackler back in 1994. She also earned second-team All-South region team honors for this past season.

Christopher Newport’s Chelsie Schweers was named the State’s Player and Rookie of the Year and Mary Washington’s Deena Applebury has been honored as the State’s Coach of the Year. Schweers becomes the first women’s basketball player to be named both Player and Rookie of the Year in VaSID history.
