Two Hornets Named ODAC Players of the Week

           SALEM, VA – Two Lynchburg College student-athletes were honored Tuesday afternoon with the release of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Players of the Week.  

 Senior Joe Devlin (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) earned conference pitcher of the week honors. He led the Hornets to a 3-0 victory over Bridgewater on Saturday, tossing a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits while fanning four Eagle hitters. On the season, Devlin has a 0.74 ERA in 15 appearances, going 7-0 in 48.1 innings of work. He also leads the Hornets with three saves, and has an opposing batting average against of .190.

 Senior Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) was tabbed as the ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. The Hornets finished the week with a 2-0 record and allowed just 15 goals while scoring 32. Wednesday against Washington & Lee, Curran allowed just five goals and tallied 13 saves along with nine groundballs while shutting out the Generals in the fourth quarter with six saves. Saturday against rival Roanoke College, Curran posted 19 saves and five groundballs, with nine saves in the decisive second half when the Maroons were held to just four goals.
