Lynchburg Golf Takes Fifth at ODAC Golf Tourney
AMHERST, VA – The Lynchburg College golf team claimed fifth place Monday after three days of play at the 2008 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship, held at Poplar Grove Golf Club.
Washington & Lee University won the team title with a three-day score of 909, including a 313 on Monday. Guilford College was second with 919, while the Hornets finished one stroke shy of a fourth place tie at 948 in the nine-squad field. Five strokes separated the fourth and seventh place teams.
Junior Ryan White (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) had a three-round total of 229, including a 72 on Monday to tie for seventh individually. Sophomore Mike Butzgy (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) fired a 236, sophomore Greg Hanlon (Clifton, VA/Paul VI) had a 238, freshman Joey Brunet (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam) was fourth with 250, and senior Mike Mann (Pennington, NJ/Princeton) carded a 257.
The All-ODAC team was also announced at the Championship, with Hanlon and Butzgy earning second-team All-ODAC accolades, and White receiving an honorable mention.
