LC Golf Competes at Apprentice and W&L Monday

                WILLIAMSBURG and LEXINGTON, VA – The Lynchburg College golf program sent teams to two different parts of the state Monday, competing at both the Glenn Heath Memorial Shipbuilders Invitational and the Buck Leslie Golf Tournament.

                The two-day Shipbuilders Invitational (Apr. 14-15) is hosted by the Newport News Apprentice School at the Blackheath Golf Course in Ford’s Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, VA.  Randolph-Macon College paced the eight-team field after the first day of play with a team score of 302, while the Hornets were in seventh with 334. Augie Camacho (Suffolk, VA/Lakeland) shot a team-best 79 on the par 71 course, with Mike Mann (Pennington, NJ/Princeton) in second with 84. Jeff Marx (High Bridge, NJ/Vorhees) fired an 85, Tyler Noll (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) carded an 86 and Michael Stultz (Chesapeake, VA/Great Bridge) had a 92.

                Four Hornets headed to Lexington, VA for the one-day, 36-hole Buck Leslie Invitational, hosted by Washington & Lee University at the Lexington Golf & Country Club. Longwood led the seven-team field after the first 18 holes (play is expected to be completed later Monday evening) with a team score of 286. Lynchburg placed fourth with a score of 309, one stroke behind third-place Bridgewater College.  Ryan White (Round Hill, VA/Loudoun Valley) shot a squad-best 75 after one round, Greg Hanlon (Clifton, VA/Paul VI) and Mike Butzgy (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) each had 76s and Joey Brunet (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam) fired an 82.
