Hornet Katie Bruce Named ODAC Softball Player of the Week

SALEM, VA – Lynchburg College freshman Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Player of the Week for the week of April 14. Bruce earned the ODAC Pitcher of the Week award on February 25 - this is her first player of the week award.

Bruce, who often serves as the team’s designated hitter when she isn’t pitching, had a dominating week on the mound and in the batter box. In addition to going 4-0 with a 1.33 ERA on the hill, she hit .500 in six starts. She had an on-base percentage of .550 and a slugging mark of .833, including two walks and two home runs. Bruce drove in a team-best 10 runs and scored eight times.

For the season, Bruce is 16-2 with one save with a 1.82 earned run average. She is hitting .355 with 16 runs, 27 RBI, four home runs and a slugging percentage of .539. The Hornets are 30-4 overall and ranked sixth in last week’s NFCA poll.
