LYNCHBURG, VA – The Roanoke College baseball team snapped LC’s nine-game winning streak with a 4-3 win in game one of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Saturday. The Hornets turned around and knocked off the Maroons 15-9 in the nightcap.
In the opener, Roanoke starter Barrett Henderson stifled the potent LC lineup, as he gave up two unearned runs in six innings of work. With the loss, the Hornets fell for the first time in 27 days.
In the nightcap, the Hornet bats came alive scoring 15 runs, connecting on four homers. Sophomore Matt Painter (Danville, VA/Dan River) was 3-5 with two homers in his first start of the season. Litz and Winston each homered in game two, as all but one starter had two or more hits in the second game, with everyone having at least one hit.
