LYNCHBURG, VA – The Roanoke College baseball team snapped LC’s nine-game winning streak with a 4-3 win in game one of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Saturday. The Hornets turned around and knocked off the Maroons 15-9 in the nightcap.

In the opener, Roanoke starter Barrett Henderson stifled the potent LC lineup, as he gave up two unearned runs in six innings of work. Matt Winston (Roanoke, VA/Cave Spring) was 3-3 with two runs scored, and Ryan Litz (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) collected three hits in as many at-bats. With the loss, the Hornets fell for the first time in 27 days.

In the nightcap, the Hornet bats came alive scoring 15 runs, connecting on four homers. Sophomore Matt Painter (Danville, VA/Dan River) was 3-5 with two homers in his first start of the season. Litz and Winston each homered in game two, as all but one starter had two or more hits in the second game, with everyone having at least one hit.

D.W. Moore (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) pitched into the seventh inning, earning his fourth victory of the season. Reliever Matt Morgan (Bedford, VA/Liberty) took over for Moore and finished the game with two and third innings of solid work.

Graham Thacker was 3-4 in the first game for Roanoke (12-18/7-9 ODAC), while his brother Brennan Thacker was 2-4 in the nightcap.

LC (24-8/12-2 ODAC) entertains Virginia Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon for a conference twinbill at 1 p.m.
