Lynchburg Defeats Randolph-Macon 16-2

            LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse team defeated the visiting Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College 16-2 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Wednesday night.

            The Yellow Jackets (5-4/1-2 ODAC) held LC scoreless for much of the first quarter, not allowing a goal until 6:09 left in the first. LC would go on to score four goals the remainder of the quarter. Leading the Hornets was Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/Henderson) with three goals and two assists along with Stephen Weis’ (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) three scores and one assist. Austin Jeter (Coppell, TX/Episcopal) also netted three goals and both Tyler Tolson (Luthervile, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and Michael Mundorf (Catonsville, MD/Mt. Saint Joseph) found the back of the net twice. Norby King (Bryan Mawr, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) and Jeff Schwartz (New City, NY/Tabor Academy) combined to go 12 for 16 on face-offs, while goalkeeper Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) stopped five shots.

            Peter LaPaglia and Tyler Watkins scored the two RMC goals with Billy Rowe recording an assist. Netminder Adam Liberto made 10 saves for the Yellow Jackets. The Hornets outshot the Yellow Jackets 48-22 and maintained a 42-25 advantage in groundballs. Lynchburg won 15 of 21 face-offs, converted on three of five extra-man opportunities, and was successful of 18 of 22 clear attempts.

            Lynchburg (9-2/2-0) travels to Virginia Beach, VA, on Saturday for a pivotal ODAC clash at 1 p.m.
