The Lynchburg College Concert Choir and the Lynchburg Singers will present a spring concert featuring the music of Romantic period composers Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Johannes Brahms on April 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Snidow Chapel.

Dr. Jong Kim, professor of music and director of choral activities/vocal studies, will conduct the concert, which is free and open to the public.

The Concert Choir will perform Mendelssohn's Drei geistliche Lieder, op. 96 for alto solo, choir and organ; O vos omnes, a motet by Tomás Luis de Victoria (cir. 1540-1613); Exultate Deo by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1514-1594); and a selection of American songs including "Sing a Mighty Song" by Daniel E. Gawthrop; "Daniel, Daniel, Servant of the Lord," arranged by Undine S. Moore; "His Voice as the Sound," arranged by Shaw-Parker; "John Henry," American Folk Song adapted by Robert DeCormier; "The White Moon" by Eugene Butler; and "Over the Rainbow" from the musical The Wizard of Oz, arranged by Mark Hayes.

The Chamber Singers will present Brahms' Vier Zigeunerlieder, op. 112, no. 3, along with three Latin American songs: "Muié Rendêra" by C.A. Pinto Fonseca (Brazil); "Pregúntale a ese mar" (Ask the sea) by Inocente Carreño (Venezuela); and "Alma Llanera" (Soul of the plains) by Pedro Gutiérrez, arranged by Angel Sauce (Venezuela).
