Duke Hosts LC Outdoor Track Teams

DURHAM, NC – The Lynchburg College men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams recorded numerous personal bests Friday at Duke University.

Travis Wray (Newburg, MD/La Plata) provisionally qualified for national competition in the 1,500 meters, crossing the finish line in 3:53.72. Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) had a season-best time of 49.95 in the 400 meter dash to take third, and J.J. Johnson (Lynchburg, VA/Amherst County) also had a season-best of 56.96 in the 400-meter hurdles. Richard Noles (Chesterfield, VA/Manchester) and Rashard Adams (Ashburn, VA) ran 23.27 and 23.36, respectively in the 200-meter dash and Ryan Van Alstine (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) completed the 5,000 in 15:09 (fifth best time in school history). 

Three Hornet women notched personal bests in the 1,500 meters at Duke. Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) finished in 4:50.97, Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) ran a 5:03 and Megan Donnelly (McLean, VA/McLean) finished in 5:06.95. Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW) reached second on the all-time list with an 18:25.42 in the 5,000.

Lynchburg will resume competition Saturday at Duke, while part of the teams will also travel to North Carolina AT&T.
