Ashley Stern Selected For Athletic Training Honor

LYNCHBURG, VA – Junior Ashley Stern (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park), a member of the women’s soccer and lacrosse teams, was recently selected by the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) as one of only two invitees from District III to attend the Third Annual Athletic Training Student Leadership Workshop.

The conference, which is over the weekend of May 14-17 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, invited just 20 students nationally. The meeting will focus on leadership qualities, past, present and future of the athletic training professionals, graduate school preparation, job opportunities, research and organizational skills for a leader in the health care field. As one of the invitees, all costs of the trip are paid for by the workshop.

Stern is a Westover Fellows Honors Student and as an Athletic Training Major. At LC, the Athletic Training Major carries the most credit hours of any major, and academically, is considered one of the most stringent majors.

“I am impressed that Ashley would take it upon herself to research the national organization and this opportunity on her own,” said Pat Aronson, PhD, ATC and Faculty Athletics Representative.  Aronson added, “She is an independent thinker and an excellent understudy of the big picture. In other words, she looks beyond the next class and next semester to be involved in career building activities.”
