Katie Bruce
Freshman Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) assisted the ninth-ranked Hornets to four hard-fought victories over the weekend, ODAC sweeps against Emory & Henry College and Eastern Mennonite University. She threw a complete-game four hitter in the second game against the Wasps on Saturday, striking out six. Bruce helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-3 with two RBI. On Sunday vs. EMU, she worked all nine innings in a come-from-behind win over the Royals, striking out four with just six hits. Again she was a large factor at the plate, belting a solo shot to center field and scoring twice. For the season, Bruce is 11-2 with a 2.04 ERA and has driven in 14 runs.
