LYNCHBURG, VA – The No. 9 Lynchburg College softball team continued its fine play Saturday with an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader sweep over pesky Emory and Henry College with scores of 2-1 in game one and 5-2 in the nightcap.

In game one, LC and Emory & Henry did all their scoring in the first inning. Wasp first baseman Dana Dettmar hit a solo homer in the top of the opening stanza to give E&H a 1-0 lead. LC responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half, highlighted by a Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) two-run bomb, which proved to be the difference.

Junior Brittany Allsop (Milford, VA/Jonathan Law) was 2-3 in the first game, as LC had only three hits in the opener. Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington-Lee) was stellar in the circle, as she allowed only four hits and one run over seven innings in picking up win number nine of the season.

In the second game of the day, the Hornets controlled the middle innings, scoring five times over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Tuesdee Woods hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning for the Wasps, but it was too little, too late for the visitors. Allsop finished game two 3-4 with a run scored, with Campbell and Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) each chalking up two hits. Bruce also got the win on the rubber, scattering four hits over seven innings, earning her eighth complete game of the year.

Dettmar had two hits in the first game for the Wasps (4-12/0-6 ODAC), with Woods going 2-3 in the second game.

The first game of the today's doubleheader will be televised, and will air on Jet Broadband's channel 7 on Tuesday, April 1 (9 p.m.) and Friday, April 4th ( p.m.). Watch commentators Doug 'The Dandy One' Marshall and Jimmy 'The Lakester' Lakes call the Hornets/Wasps game.

Lynchburg returns to the diamond tomorrow afternoon for an ODAC doubleheader with Eastern Mennonite University at 1:30 p.m. on Moon Field.
