Lynchburg Lacrosse Defeats Villa Julie 14-8

LYNCHBURG, VA - The #12 Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team, led by Ryan Cranston's (West Chester, PA/Henderson) four goals and two assists, jumped out to a five-goal lead and held on to defeat #15 Villa Julie 14-8 on Saturday evening from Shellenberger Field.

Lynchburg led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter and went into intermission with a 6-1 advantage. Cranston would take over in the second-half, notching all four of his goals and one assist after intermission. Villa Julie (6-2) would narrow the deficit to six with 10:50 left in the game, but LC would answer with three of the last five goals to close out the game.

Cranston led all scorers with four goals and two assists and Stephen Weis (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) contributed with two goals and a game-high three assists. Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and Johnny Black (Timonium, MD/St. Paul's) each notched two goals and one assist and Michael Mundorf (Catonsville, MD/Mt. Saint Joseph) chipped in with a goal and two helpers. Goalie Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) made 12 stops in the net for the Hornets.

Villa Julie was led by Richard Ford's two goals and two assists along with two Greg Furshman goals. Steve Kazimer recorded a goal and two assists while netminder Eric Fleegle made five saves.

LC (5-2) returns to Shellenberger Field on Saturday at 7 pm to faceoff against Hood College.
