Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA – Alyzza-May Callahan made 17 saves as the Guilford College women’s lacrosse team handed Lynchburg College its first defeat of the season, upending the Hornets 15-11 Saturday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

Lynchburg scored the game’s first three goals and five of the first seven, but the Quakers rallied before the half and entered intermission with a 7-6 edge. Each team scored twice to start the second stanza, but GC scored three-straight times to open a 12-8 lead it never relinquished.

Junior Deana Welsch (Yorktown Hts., NY/Yorktown) paced the LC offense with three goals, and senior Nichole Locher (Yorktown Hts., NY/Yorktown) and freshman Lindsay Gengras (Avon, Ct/Avon) each had two goals and an assist. Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester) posted one goal and one assist.

Shelly Nogueira tallied for goals for Guilford (2-3/1-0 ODAC), while Carrie Ernst and Jordan Clodfelter had two goals and two assists apiece. Mary Hutchins delivered two goals and an assist and Carolyn Rodda also found the back of the net twice. Callhan’s 17 saves help counter a 36-31 Lynchburg advantage in shots.
