Mike Curtis

C. Michael Curtis, senior editor and fiction editor of the Atlantic Monthly will speak on "Living with Rejection: The State of the American Short Story," on Thursday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alumni House Lounge at Lynchburg College.

The lecture, presented by the Richard H. Thornton Endowment in English, is free and open to the public.

Curtis is the John Cobb Professor of the Humanities at Wofford College. He has edited six anthologies of Atlantic Monthly fiction, and oversees the Atlantic Monthly Student Writing Competition. He has taught creative writing, grammar, and ethics at Cornell, Harvard, Tufts, MIT, Bennington, Boston College, and other schools. His essays, poetry, reviews, and articles have been published in The New Republic, The National Review, The Atlantic Monthly, and other magazines.
