Two Hornets Qualify for Indoor Track and Field Nationals

            LYNCHBURG, VA – Two members of the Lynchburg College men’s indoor track and field team will compete this weekend at the NCAA Division III Meet, hosted by Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.

            Senior Scott Decker (Clifton, VA/Robinson) will compete for All-American honors in the pole vault. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) champion in the event, he cleared 16 feet Saturday at the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet – his best performance of the season. The pole vault competition will begin Friday at 5 p.m.

            Sophomore Chris Word (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) qualified for NCAA competition in the 400-meter dash. He recorded his best time of the season at Virginia Tech as well, finishing in 48.95 and is the conference champion in the event. The 400-meter dash trials begin Friday at 6:05 p.m.
