Lynchburg Track at Last Chance Meet
BLACKSBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College indoor track and field team had several outstanding performances Saturday at the Virginia Tech Last Chance meet.
Scott Decker (Clifton, VA/Robinson) had a personal-best of 16 feet in the pole vault to improve his NCAA qualifying mark. The Hornet mile relay time of Chris Word (Lynchburg, VA/L.C. Glass), Will Tolbert (Missouri City, TX/Hightower), Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) and Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) finished in 3:17.10 to win the event - and also improve their NCAA Provisional Qualifying time.
Travis Wray (Newburg, MD/La Plata) took third at Tech in the mile in 4:17.37, ranking second on the LC all-time list in the event. Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) was second in the 5,000 in 15:11.8 and Word finished the 400 meters in 48.95.
The Division III NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet will be held next weekend at Ada, OH, hosted by Ohio Northern University. A complete list of NCAA Qualifiers will be released Monday.
