Salisbury, MD – The Lynchburg College softball team is ranked third in the nation this week in the latest NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) top 25 poll, and took to the field Friday at the two-day Salisbury University Sea Gull Invitational.

The Hornets bested #23 Moravian College (PA) 7-5 in the opening game. Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Jonathan Law) was 4-4 at the plate, smacking a home run and adding three runs and three RBI. Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) went 1-2 with two walks and Audra Della Rosa (Rumford, RI/St. Mary Academy Bay View) was 1-1 with a walk and two sacrifice bunts.

LC had a 4-2 lead over Kings College (PA) in the fourth inning of the second game before rain hit and play had to be suspended. The Hornets (13-0) are scheduled to face Rutgers-Camden and Cabrini on Saturday, weather permitting.
