Lynchburg College constituents and visitors are encouraged to report all campus crimes as soon as possible to the Campus Security office and appropriate police agencies. To report a crime on campus, contact security in person at the campus information desk (located on the first floor of Hall Campus Center), by using a blue light emergency phone, or by dialing "5555" from any campus phone.

Additionally, a non-emergency crime tip line is available for reporting information about incidents that affect the campus community but do not require immediate, emergency response. Information about thefts, vandalism, or any other crimes that occurred previously may be reported anonymously by calling extension 7867 (544-STOP) and leaving a message on voicemail. Security officers will respond to information received. Crimes in progress should be reported immediately to campus security.

LC's security force is comprised of uniformed, commissioned and non-commissioned officers who are on duty 24 hours per day. For matters that require the attention of commissioned police officers, security staff request assistance from the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD).

Lynchburg College encourages and works cooperatively with the LPD on crime prevention and in addressing reported incidents. These efforts include participation by police officers in meetings with residential and off-campus students at the beginning of an academic year. Lynchburg College and LPD officers in a joint effort,  conduct directed community patrols in neighborhoods near campus to promote safety awareness and crime prevention. Periodic communication between LPD Command Staff, Campus Security, Residence Life and the Office of the Dean of Students to discuss prevention efforts, crime reports, and problem areas take place on a regular, scheduled basis.

The LPD and other city emergency services can be reached by dialing "911." If emergency services are needed on campus, it is preferable to contact campus security first so that an officer may be dispatched to the scene of the emergency while Lynchburg emergency personnel are en route to campus.

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are encouraged to utilize the following campus resources when coping with a crime or other safety concerns:
