LC Softball Wins Two More Games

             PORTSMOUTH, VA – The Lynchburg College softball team won a pair of games Friday afternoon at the Virginia Wesleyan College Tournament at Churchland Park.

       The Hornets upended Peace College (NC) in the first game 3-1, as Elizabeth Perkins (Kents Store, VA/Fluvanna County) went 2-3 with a double, an RBI and a walk. Lauren Duguay (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) was 1-3 with a run scored and Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington & Lee) earned the win, allowing just two hits while striking out five.

             Freshman Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) pitched a three-hit, eight-strikeout shutout in the second game to give Lynchburg a 1-0 win over the University of Rochester. Perkins was 2-2 with a triple, and Duguay was 2-3 with a triple.

            Lynchburg (8-0) is scheduled to face Moravian (4 p.m.) and Frostburg State (6 p.m.) Saturday at Princess Anne Park in Virginia Beach, VA.
