LC Lacrosse Player Ryan Cranston Named to 2008 Tewaaraton Award Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior midfielder Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/Henderson) was recently named to the 2008 Warrior Tewaaraton Men's Watch List.

The Tewaaraton Trophy is considered pre-eminent lacrosse award honoring the top female and male varsity collegiate lacrosse player in the United States and is viewed as the Heisman Trophy of college lacrosse. Cranston is one of only three Division III players on the list and all seven previous winners hail from Division I schools. The award will be presented on May 29 at the National Museum of the American Indian.

Cranston scored 31 goals and 19 assists for 50 points with two game-winning goals in 2007 and was a first-team All-ODAC and a second-team All-American honoree. Lynchburg College head coach Steve Koudelka said, "This is a tremendous honor and Ryan deserves to be mentioned with the best players in the country. He works hard and has a tremendous passion to play." Cranston on the news, "It was a nice surprise and an honor to be named on the Tewaaraton List. I'm looking forward to a great season; our team is going to be a contender with any team that we play this year."
