Hampden-Sydney Defeats LC 83-64

             LYNCHBURG, VA – The Hampden-Sydney College men’s basketball team defeated Lynchburg College 83-64 Wednesday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game from Turner Gymnasium.

            HSC (14-10/8-9 ODAC) led by four with 8:27 left in the first-half, but the Tigers would go on a 20-4 run to go into intermission with a 42-22 lead. LC would outscore HSC 42-41  in the second-half behind 48.5% shooting, but could not cut the lead to less than 14. For the Tigers, Troy Kaase led all scorers with 24 points and nine rebounds while Drew Prehmus tallied 20 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, and five assists. Turner King also contributed with 13 points.

            Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) led four Hornets in double figures, chipping in with 14 points and six rebounds, and Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) had 13 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. Kwame Safo (Vienna, VA/George C. Marshall) provided 10 points and four assists while Evan Fancourt (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) gave the Hornets 10 points and three assists.

             The Hornets (3-21/1-16) close out their season on Saturday when they travel to Virginia Beach, VA, to battle ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan College at 2 p.m.
