LC Women Hang on to Defeat Randolph 70-60

LYNCHBURG, VA – Five players scored in double figures as the Lynchburg College women’s basketball team opened a large lead Tuesday evening and held on to defeat cross-town rival Randolph College 70-60 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up.
Sophomore Kristina Darby (Tampa, FL/Holy Names) scored a team-high 15 points and added four assists, and sophomore Brittany Dahn (Glenn Allen, VA/Deep Run, VA) netted 10 points while ripping down a game-high 16 rebounds. Chevonne Booker (Richmond, VA/Thomas Jefferson) contributed 12 points with seven caroms, Dana Esposito (New Port Richie, FL/Holy Names) posted 10 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and Tamara Snead (Richmond. VA/Henrico) had 10 points in just 12 minutes off the bench. Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA/Fort Defiance) added nine points and seven boards.
Michelle Brockman paced Randolph (6-16/4-14 ODAC) with a game-high 16 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Lindsay Cross got hot late and finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, Katie Rechnitzer had 14 points and Sam Schaffstall scored all 10 of her points after intermission. The Hornets enjoyed a 55-38 advantage on the backboards, but Randolph forced 25 LC turnovers.
The Hornets (15-8/12-6) host Randolph-Macon College Friday evening at 7 p.m. in Turner Gymnasium. The Hornets close out the regular season Saturday at home against Washington & Lee University at 5 p.m.
