Two Hornets Land Weekly Conference Honors

SALEM, VA – Sophomore outfielder Jeff Taylor (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) and sophomore indoor track distance runner Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) earned player of the week honors from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) for last week, as announced by the league office Monday.

Taylor went 9-for-16 (.562) in five games for the Hornets last week.  He scored 16 runs, picked up one double and knocked in four runs.  He scored at least two runs in four of the five games including an 18-1 win over Frostburg State in which he crossed the dish four times.  He was also 4-for-4 in stolen bases while drawing five walks for the week.

Flynn bettered his personal-best mark in the 5,000-meter run by winning the event at the Carolina Chik-Fil-A Invitational Saturday.  He posted a time of 15:04, setting a new ODAC season top-time and ranking third all-time at Lynchburg.

The Hornet baseball team (3-4) is in action this Saturday and Sunday, as they host Alvernia College for a three-game set, while the men’s indoor track squad heads to UNC this weekend.
