Washington & Lee Defeats Lynchburg Men 83-52

BOX SCORE

LEXINGTON, VA – The Washington & Lee University Generals clinched their first winning season since 1989-90 with an 83-52 win over the Lynchburg College men’s basketball team Sunday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

The Hornets fell behind early, and couldn’t overcome an 18-point halftime deficit. Sophomore forward Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) led the Hornets (3-19/1-14 ODAC) with 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds. KC Mendez (San Antonio, TX/Winston Churchill) and Eric Burnett (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) each added eight points for LC, while senior Evan Fancourt (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) scored seven.

Washington & Lee shot 56% from the floor as a team, forcing LC into a 34% clip from the field. Junior guard Isaiah Goodman hit all eight of his free-throw attempts, scoring a game-high 16 points for W&L (14-8/10-5 ODAC). Greg Bienemann registered 11 points, and Chris McHugh and Ben Heller both finished in double-digits with 10 points for the host Generals.

The Hornets return to Turner Gymnasium Monday when conference-rival Roanoke College comes to town for a 7 p.m. tip.
