LC Track Travels at Clemson and UNC
CLEMSON, SC and CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Lynchburg College indoor track and field teams split up Saturday to compete at Clemson University and the University of North Carolina.
Senior Scott Decker (Clifton, VA/Robinson) won the pole vault at Clemson, clearing 15’7”. Chris Word (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) qualified for NCAA competition in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 49.01, while Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) ran a 50.89. The mile relay team of Word, Graves, Rashard Adams (Ashburn, VA) and Will Tolbert (Missouri City, TX/Hightower) finished in 3:26.56.
At UNC, Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, VMD/Damascus) won the 5K in 15:04, while Pat Jacobs (Bloomingdale, NJ/Butler) placed fourth in 15:34. Travis Wray (Newburg, MD/La Plata) was fourth in the mile in 4:19.52 and Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Leonardtown) ran the 400-meter dash in 51.02.
Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) and Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) ran 2:24.50 and 2:29.08, respectively in the 800 meters. Kyra Richardson (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) ran the 200 in 27.54 and Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson) crossed the finish in 27.55. Danielle Garofalo (Boxford, MA/Masconomet) finished the 60-meter hurdles in 10.11.
LC is slated to return to UNC next Saturday.
