Randolph outlasts LC Men 77-65

           LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College men’s basketball team survived a rally from Lynchburg College to post a 77-65 win over the Hornets Wednesday night in non-conference action. It was LC’s first trip across town for a men’s basketball game in program history – it is the inaugural season for men’s basketball at Randolph.

           Sophomore post man Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) paced the Hornets with 18 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, despite facing double and triple-teams most of the evening. Stephen Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) tallied 16 points and seven boards while Kwame Safo (Vienna, VA/George C. Marshall) came off the bench to contribute a team-best 19 points and four assists.

           Randolph (7-13) had three players in double figures, with Travis Ellis leading the way with a game-high 20 points and a team-best 10 rebounds. Pete Hamilton posted 15 points and nine assists while Aurimas Lekavicius added 10 points and five assists.  

           The Hornets (3-18) will return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play this Sunday, traveling across the mountains to face Washington & Lee University at 3 p.m.
