SALEM, Va. --- The second cross-town match-up in as many weeks is on tap for the ODAC Video Webcast on Wednesday evening. Lynchburg College makes the 10-minute trip to Randolph College for a men’s basketball contest in the PER Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
Penn Atlantic Inc. will provide the ODAC with its service to stream audio and video across the Internet. All scheduled ODAC events can be accessed from Penn Atlantic’s game schedule (www.pennatlantic.com) as the play date approaches.
Lynchburg (3-17, 1-13 ODAC) looks to sweep the first men’s basketball season series between the two schools and end a nine-game losing skid. In the first meeting back in December, Lynchburg earned a 74-70 win over the WildCats for its first victory of the season. Kwame Safo led four Hornets in double figures with 24 points to go with four assists and three steals. Mason Wooldridge notched 17 points, and Jeff Langrock and Brad Puffenbarger added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Langrock also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Coming into Wednesday’s contest, Lynchburg is 10th in the conference in scoring at 69.2 points per game, and ninth in scoring defense at 85.8 points allowed per night. The Hornets are fifth in the conference beyond the arc and at the free throw line, converting at 35.4-percent and 69.6-percent clips, respectively. Wooldridge sits third in the ODAC in scoring at 20.2 points per game, and is fifth in rebounding at 7.8 boards a night. He’s also third in free throw shooting at 83.9-percent (104-of-124). Safo is fourth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio at a 2.03 clip.
Randolph (6-13) will officially join the ODAC next season as the conference’s 11th men’s basketball member. The WildCats are looking to snap their own four-game losing streak, the last two coming against future ODAC foes Eastern Mennonite (69-57) and Bridgewater (72-48). In the first meeting against Lynchburg, Pete Hamilton and Brandon Harris led four WildCats in double figures with 20 points apiece. Harris added six rebounds and three assists to his stat line. Tim Clarke chipped in 12 points and Jimmy Greene added 10 points and a team-high eight boards. As a team, Randolph averages 62.8 points per game while holding opponents about a point less at 61.9 tallies per outing. Hamilton leads the attack at 12.8 points per game. He has led the team in scoring in eight contests including the past two outings. He posted a season-high 21 points at EMU last Wednesday. Greene leads the squad in rebounding at 7.3 caroms per game.
