Randolph-Macon Defeats Lynchburg 78-58

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Randolph-Macon College men's basketball team suppressed a late rally by Lynchburg College to emerge with a 78-58 victory in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Wednesday night.

The Yellow Jackets went into the half with a 36-21 lead, but LC would fight back in the second half, cutting the lead to seven with 4:29 left on the clock. Randolph-Macon then went on a 16-3 run to end the game and secure the win.

Lynchburg (3-16/1-12) was led by sophomore forward Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) who recorded his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 26 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Wooldridge shot 7-11 overall and 10-14 from the free-throw line. Sophomore guard Steven Echols (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) finished with 11 points on 5-11 shooting, four rebounds, and five assists.

Randolph-Macon (15-4/9-3) was led by Jordan Brown, who scored 23 points on 9-12 shooting along with four steals. Justin Short contributed with 19 points, three assists, and four steals while Danny Jones chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.

LC outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 36-35 while the Hornets committed 16 turnovers to only nine for RMC. LC shot 36% (20-55) while RMC shot 47% (25-52). Macon also went to the free throw line 29 times, connecting on 19, while LC was 13-19 from the charity stripe.

The Hornets travel to Greensboro, NC, this Saturday to battle ranked Guilford College at 3 p.m. in an ODAC contest.
