
The Lynchburg College Wind Symphony, Orchestra, and Jazz Band will present “A Night at the Movies” featuring music from movie favorites such as Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone. The concert will be held on Thursday, February 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Sydnor Performance Hall, Elliot & Rosel Schewel Hall, and is free and open to the public. The Wind Symphony and Orchestra, directed by Dr. Oeida M. Hatcher, associate professor of music and director of music education/instrumental studies, will perform the music of John Williams from the Harry Potter movies and The Patriot; Henry the V, Patrick Doyle’s musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's play about the English king's bloody conquest of France; Schindler’s List, the story of how 1100 Jews were spared during the Holocaust; and “Gabriel’s Oboe” from The Mission, the tale of a Jesuit priest Father Gabriel, who goes to the South American jungle to build a mission.
The Jazz Band, directed by music instructor Harry Farmer, will play Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones, in addition to music from The Incredibles by Michael Giacchino.
