Hornet Men Fall to Bridgewater 73-59

BRIDGEWATER, VA – The Lynchburg College men’s basketball could not overcome 35 percent shooting from the floor as the Hornets dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup to Bridgewater College 73-59 Sunday afternoon.

The Hornets led 2-0, but that was the last lead Lynchburg would hold the rest of the contest. LC (3-15/1-11 ODAC) closed the edge to two on a triple by Evan Fancourt (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) with 10:26 remaining, but an 18-6 run for BC dashed any hopes of a comeback for the Hornets.

Sophomore forward Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) paced LC with 22 points and a team-high nine boards. Fancourt hit four of his 10 shots for 11 points, connecting on three shots from long range.

BC (10-7/5-6 ODAC) was sparked by Dominic Trawick, who scored a game-high 24 points for the Eagles. Jay Strotman notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, while Josh Fox scored 12 points off the bench for Bridgewater.

The Hornets were outshot 47%-35% on the game, while the home Eagles also held an advantage on the backboards, 40-33. LC and the Eagles both hit 21 field goals, but BC went to the line 32 times, hitting 25 from the stripe, while Lynchburg was 12-19 from the line. The Hornets also dished out a season-low four assists as a team Sunday.

Lynchburg will entertain Randolph-Macon College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Turner Gym
