Stingy Defense Leads Lynchburg Women to a 66-39 Victory Over EMU

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women’s basketball team held Eastern Mennonite University to just 14 field goals on 25.5% shooting en route to a 66-39 victory Saturday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

The stingy Hornet defense held Carolyn Riley, the ODAC’s leading scorer, to 0-11 shooting from the field and just four points. The Royals made just seven field goals in each half and converted on just two of 13 three-pointers while forcing EMU into 18 turnovers. LC led by 17 at the half and opened up the second-half on a 22-8 run to pull away for good.

Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) led four Hornets in double figures, tallying 16 points and seven rebounds.  Kristina Darby (Tampa, FL/Holy Names) contributed with 13 points, five rebounds, and six assists while Dana Esposito (New Port Richey, FL/Holy Names) had 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland) also scored 12 points along with collecting four steals.
