Program Itinerary

Monday, June 16, 2008
Attend an orientation and welcome reception in the morning followed by afternoon tours of Hannam University’s campus and the city of Daejeon.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008
A morning class in Korean language will be followed by lectures on the modern history of Korea in the afternoon.  There will be a cultural event planned for the evening.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008
This morning’s class focuses on intercultural communications with more modern history of Korea in the afternoon.  You will have free time in the evening.

Thursday, June 19, 2008
Lectures on intercultural communication will conclude this morning with Korean martial arts set as the afternoon’s theme.  Students will enjoy karaoke in the evening.

Friday, June 20, 2008
There will be an excursion to Buyeo, home to one of the biggest cultural festivals in South Korea.

Saturday, June 21, 2008
Today, you’ll enjoy an activity you plan with your Korean buddy.

Sunday, June 22, 2008
Free day to explore Daejeon and the local area with your classmates and buddies.

Monday, June 23, 2008
Classes resume with Korean language study in the morning followed by an introduction to Korean cuisine in the afternoon, including a visit to the Haechandeul Plant where Korean food is processed and marketed for global consumption.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008
Learn about Korean architecture in the morning and focus on Korean fashion in the afternoon with emphasis on “hanbok”—traditional clothing—and changes in its design reflects developments in Korean history and culture.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Enjoy an excursion today to the Korean Folklore Museum and Kyeongbok Palace.

Thursday, June 26, 2008
This morning’s lecture will focus on KoreaChristianityty and people followed by a “Mini-Olympics” in the afternoon.

Friday-Saturday , June 27-28, 2008
Overnight field trip to Namwon to explore temples, shrines, and gardens in Korea’s “City of Love.”  Also, enjoy the sites of San Diego’s sister city of Jeonju.

Enjoy free time in Daejeon with your friends.

Monday, June 30, 2008
Make the most of your last Korean language class!  You will have a buddy activity in the afternoon/evening.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008
This morning’s lecture features the delightful sounds of Korean traditional music with Korean cinema and culture to follow in the afternoon.  Check out a Korean film at Movie Night.

Wednesday, July 2, 2008
Put on your dancing shoes this morning for Korean mask dance and show off your creativity with pottery-making in the afternoon.  After class, enjoy a visit to Mt. Kyeryong.

Thursday, July 3, 2008
Congratulations!  Today is your graduation!  Attend your graduation ceremony this morning followed by your farewell party in the afternoon.

Friday-Saturday, July 4-5, 2008
Enjoy your final two days in South Korea with a stay in the exciting capital of Seoul.  Visit the palaces and temples throughout the city and enjoy the shopping.
