Two LC Hall of Famers Recently Honored by NSCAA
BALTIMORE, MD – Two members of the Lynchburg College Athletic Hall of Fame were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) at its awards banquet last weekend.
Rothwell ‘Rusty’ Taylor ‘68 was honored with the Robert W. Robinson Award, for his distinguished service to high school athletics. He has coached at four different high schools in the San Francisco area, compiling a career record of 1,139-207-74 in both boys and girls soccer. Taylor currently coaches at Bentley High School (CA) and also serves as the director of athletics.
Shelley Blumenthal ’79 earned the High School Boys Division II Coach of the Year Award. His Blacksburg High team went 23-0-1 last spring en route to the state title. The Bruins have won seven of the last nine group AA titles under Blumenthal’s direction.
