Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA – Washington & Lee University shot a blistering 60 percent in the first half, as they gained a 15-point halftime edge and cruised to a 77-62 win over the Lynchburg College men’s team in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action from Turner Gym Saturday.

The game remained close throughout much of the first half, but the Generals used a 10-3 run late in the first stanza to build a 15-point advantage going into intermission. The Hornets came out of the break gunning, nailing five three-point goals within the first 5:21, as they cut the lead down to three after a jumper by sophomore Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) at the 11:59 mark of the second half. W&L (9-5/5-2 ODAC) responded with a 10-0 run to effectively put the game out of reach.

Greg Bienemann had a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds, nailing 11 of 15 shots from the floor. Femi Kusimo posted 14 points, with Zac White coming off the bench to score 11 points. LC was outshot 55% to 40%, and out-rebounded 36-21.

The Hornets (3-11/1-7 ODAC) return to the court Sunday as they travel to Salem, VA for a conference battle with No. 24 Roanoke College. Tip-off with the rival Maroons is slated for 2 p.m.
