Lynchburg Falls at Roanoke 74-68

SALEM, VA – The Lynchburg College women’s basketball team got 22 points from sophomore forward Brittany Dahn (Glen Allen, Deep Run), but could not overcome 34 percent shooting from the field as the Hornets fell to Roanoke 74-68 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game Saturday afternoon.

The game was a see-saw battle the entire contest, with the Hornets (8-5/5-3 ODAC) holding a nine-point lead at 8:18 mark of the first half. RC roared back, finishing the half on a 22-6 run to lead by five at intermission.

The second half proved to be much as the same, as the visitors retook the lead, and led 44-39 with 13:04 remaining thanks to a three by Kristina Darby (Tampa, FL/Holy Names). The Maroons (7-6/4-2 ODAC) surged back to regain the lead, and withstood a furious comeback from LC in the waning moments.

Dahn led the Hornets in scoring for the seventh straight outing, also grabbing a game-high eight caroms. Darby finished with 12 points, and Kylie Lucas (Verona, VA/Fort Defiance) also added 10 points for LC. Roanoke’s Jordan Gholston scored a game-high 28 points on 11-14 shooting, while teammates JaLeesa Osbourne and Caitlyn Long each tallied 11 points. RC has now taken the last eight match-ups between these teams, dating back to the 04-05 season.

Lynchburg returns to Turner Gym for the first time since Jan. 5 this Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they entertain Virginia Wesleyan College for ODAC play.
