EMU Outscores Lynchburg Men 92-78

         HARRISONBURG, VA – The Eastern Mennonite University men’s basketball team outscored visiting Lynchburg College 92-78 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game Saturday evening.

LC led 45-38 at the half, but EMU would use a 21-5 run to open the second half and go on to out-score the Hornets 54-33 in the stanza to secure the win. Brad Parkes scored 21 points for the Royals, sinking 10 of 13 free throw attempts. George Johnson scored 15 while LeRoger Parrish and DaSean Webster tallied 14 and 10 points respectively for EMU. Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) led Lynchburg with 21 points and six rebounds, and Kwame Safo (Vienna, VA/Goerge C. Marshall) contributed with 14 points and seven assists. Evan Fancourt (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) paced LC with 15 points and five assists, and Brad Puffenbarger (Blue Grass, VA/Highland) tacked on 11 points.

         EMU (4-5/1-2 ODAC) outshot Lynchburg 57% to 49% for the game and also shot 46% from three range while LC converted on 44 percent of its shots from downtown. EMU also won the rebounding battle 33-25 and sunk 18 of its 23 free throw attempts compared to 12 of 20 for LC.

         The Hornets (2-7/0-3 ODAC) will return to Lynchburg, VA, on Sunday for an ODAC game against the Bridgewater College Eagles with tip-off set for 3 p.m.
