LC Women Defeat EMU 68-55

HARRISONBURG, VA – Four players scored in double figures Friday evening as the Lynchburg College women’s basketball team posted an important Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory at Eastern Mennonite University, 68-55.

The Hornets led 36-30 at the break, but the Royals trimmed the advantage to just three with 14 minutes left in the contest. But Lynchburg exploded for the next 11 points, seven by sophomore post player Brittany Dahn (Glenn Allen, VA/Deep Run) to pull away for good.

The 5’10” Dahn delivered game-highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds, while adding four assists and two blocked shots in 37 minutes. Kristina Darby (Tampa, FL/Holy Names) scored 12 points, freshman Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland) tallied 10 points and nine rebounds and freshman Kelly Sutherland (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) added 10 points.

Carolyn Riley had 14 points and nine rebounds for Eastern Mennonite (7-3/3-2 ODAC), both team highs. Tara Jones posted 13 points, six rebounds and four assists while Jolene Kratz helped with 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Hornets (6-3/3-1 ODAC) are now 2-0 in their six-game road trip. LC travels to Bridgewater College Saturday for another ODAC game at 2 p.m.
