Lynchburg College will host an information session to explore opportunities available in the field of teaching on Saturday, January 12, from 9:45 a.m. until noon in Schewel Hall.
Program highlights will include a discussion of undergraduate and graduate programs offered by Lynchburg College, teacher licensure and LC Teach (alternative route), financial aid, and special education opportunities.
Interactive question and answer sessions with Lynchburg College professors and staff will highlight the event, providing opportunities for those attending to discuss individual needs and concerns. Breakout sessions will provide detailed information on a number of topics.
"Opportunities in the teaching field have never been better than at the current moment," said Dr. Jan Stennette, dean of the School of Education and Human Development. "While other employment areas are contracting, teaching opportunities are expanding," she explained, "and now is the time to consider teaching as a vocation."
The information session is free and open to prospective transfer undergraduate students seeking a degree in education, postgraduate students seeking teacher licensure, postgraduate students seeking a master's degree in special education, and non-traditional age prospective students seeking a career change.
