Hornet Men’s Lacrosse Team Picked Third in D3 Pre-Season Poll
Ryan Cranston Named First-Team Pre-Season All-American

BALTIMORE, MD – The Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse team is ranked third in the Face-Off Yearbook pre-season poll for the 2008 Division III season.

Salisbury University (MD), last year’s unbeaten national champion, tops the poll, while Cortland is second, Gettysburg fourth and Roanoke fifth. The Hornets open their season February 23 at Salisbury, and face three other top 20 teams.

Face-Off Yearbook’s pre-season All-American team was also released earlier in the week, with three Hornets being recognized. Senior attack Ryan Cranston (West Chester, PA/Henderson) was chosen for the first team, while junior attack Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and senior goalie Garrett Curran (Hull, MA/Tabor Academy) were selected for the third team.

Cranston, a second-team All-American and a first-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and all-state attack in 2007, was second on the squad with 31 goals and 50 points (19 assists). Tolson was second in the ODAC with 57 goals and third with 61 points – earning honorable mention All-American accolades and a spot on the all-conference second-team. Curran nabbed honorable mention All-ODAC honors in 2007, posting a 13-4 record, a 59.8 save percentage and a 7.96 goals-against average.
