Indoor Track Season Opens as LC Travels to Liberty

Indoor Track Season Opens as LC Travels to Liberty

         LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College track and field teams opened their indoor seasons Saturday across town at the Liberty University Kickoff.

         For the men’s team, J.J. Johnson (Lynchburg, VA/Amherst Co.) ran the 60-meter dash in 7.23, while Rory-Lee Washington (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) recorded a 54’1 ¼” heave in the weight throw. In the 400 meters, Chris Word (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) finished in 50.45 and Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) crossed the finish line in 51.18.

 The Hornet women’s team had several notable performances, including Danielle Garofalo (Boxford, MA/Masconomet) running a 10.27 in the 60-meter hurdles. Mary Mohay (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) cleared 3.05 meters in the pole vault, and Ashley Allen (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) had throws of 12.19 meters in the weight throw and 10.93 meters in the shot put. Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson) finished the 60-meter dash in 8.36, while Kyra Richardson (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) ran the 60 in 8.39 and the 200 meters in 27.58.

 The Hornets will travel to Christopher Newport University on Saturday.
