Lynchburg College Alumni Association

The Distinguished Alumnus/a Award 

This award, presented since 1987, honors alumni who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to one or more areas of society.

Eligibility Requirements:
A candidate must have earned a Lynchburg College degree or, in special cases, have attended the college at least two years and have graduated from another accredited college or university.

Criteria for selection:
Each candidate must have made displayed outstanding contributions to one or more areas of society, but not limited to, professional, academic, and personal achievements, as well as service to the college.

Nominations:
Accepted from all sources 

Selection Process:
Information about nominee is shared with the Executive Committee of Alumni Board (president, three vice presidents and secretary). Majority vote by Executive Committee determines whether a nominee receives the award. 

Presentation of Award:
The Distinguished Alumnus/a Award will be presented to the individual at an appropriate time by the president of the Alumni Association or by his/her designate.  

Other:
This honor may be posthumously bestowed. 

The executive secretary of the Alumni Association will notify Alumni Board Directors of each individual who receives the Distinguished Alumnus/a Award. The number of awards to be presented within a given year will be left to the discretion of the executive committee.
